World Conference on Dialogue
By invitation of King Abdullah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Director William Kerr and Assistant Director Trey Hoobler recently attended The World Conference on Dialogue, organized by The Muslim World League under the direction of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz Al-Saud of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Hosted by Spanish King Juan Carlos I and Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, the conference was held in Madrid, Spain, July 16 – 18 2008. The World Conference on Dialogue was an effort to gather religious leaders and other influential figures in world politics to discuss a path toward religious tolerance and peace. Its purpose was to create a forum allowing religious leaders from many traditions to discuss education as a tool for inter-religious cooperation and tolerance. Attendees focused on understanding the common themes found in all major world religions as a way to promote cooperation and peaceful coexistence among the world’s people.
Former UN Ambassador to address Florida State
Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and U.S. National Security Council official Nancy Soderberg will be speaking September 30th, 2008 in the Broad Lecture Auditorium at the Claude Pepper Center.
Ambassador Soderberg has over twenty years of experience in the development of U.S. foreign policy and has recently published a new book entitled “The Prosperity Agenda”.
